The time has finally come where I take the very belated plunge and purchase something apple (besides an ipod). I initially thought iphone, iphone, instagram here i come! But then after that wore off and I looked into the three year contracts here in Canada I paused. Right now I have a samsung galaxy, no contract, but no fun, there's no instagram, typing is a bit of a nightmare but do I need the iphone, really and do I want the $50+ monthly spend when my galaxy costs me $35? I hardly leave the house (the park doesn't count).
So then I thought ipad, it's pretty, it's smaller than a laptop clearly, thus far more portable. I could get a bluetooth keyboard and bring it out to write places. It could be useful on trips to play movies in the car (not that we even ever put the television on in front of these two). Okay fine, it would be a luxury, purely a luxury and when was the last time I bought something like that, something that really has no rational purpose? I can't remember. So maybe that's reason enough to go for it.
Which would you chose?

Okay. This sounds INSANE but my life is so much better with my iPhone! Everything at my fingertips. Stuck in line somewhere? Check Facebook. If I still blogged regularly I could respond to comments. Having a quick way to take a pic and send it to my friends/family over iMessage or Instagram? Awesome.
ReplyDeleteAlso we have an iPad and it is. Great for surfing the web etc but I still turn to my iPhone more frequently.
ReplyDeletePs I betcha if you get an iPhone this year you will get an iPad down the road hahaha
gah, you're probably right!
DeleteI have both an iPhone 5 and an iPad and I LOVE, LOVE them both!
ReplyDeletenot helping Janet, not helping!!!
DeleteOh man, once you get one you'll never go back! haha. I have to say I use my phone a lot more, but if you're not out and about a lot you can do so much of the same things (ie. instagram) on your iPad. You'd be happy with either and you're gonna LOVE instagram!
ReplyDeletei am starting to think i am the last person on the planet without one
DeleteI think for your purposes Ash, get the iPad. I use my phone constantely, mostly for texting, mapping, Instagram, Facebook and taking pictures. I think you'd have more uses for the iPad- remember, I have a Mac laptop at home. If you dont want to buy a new laptop, get the iPad.
ReplyDeleteso how about you buy me one for christmas and then i can get both:)
DeleteI have an iPhone 5 and first gen iPad (given to me by my dad when he upgraded to an iPad 2). I'm ADDICTED to my iPhone. Phil and I find ourselves using it ALL the time. And because we have the iPhone, we probably don't use the iPad as much. But since you're home so much, if I had to recommend one, I would go with the iPad.
ReplyDeletewell i was leaning towards the phone but now you and steph have me rethinking!
DeleteiPhone. If I use my iPad at home and EE can't play, he makes it impossible. So if you're looking for a babysitter for the twins, iPad. If it's for you, iPhone.
ReplyDeleteInstagram has an Android app! Which you could use on your own wifi, assuming you have a wireless router. I've got a Samsung Galaxy Nexus (with Wind, which is delightfully cheap and unlimited - data too! - and, I believe, in your neck of the province) and wouldn't give it up for the world. But, I'm an android girl all the way. In terms of a phone, I don't think an iPhone is worth the money. So, iPad. Definitely. iPads are cool. I want an iPad.
ReplyDeleteSo funny, I was just wondering the other day if you were on IG :) I'd say if you're happy with your phone go with the ipad.
ReplyDeleteHow do you pick just one???? Have you though about a mini iPad?
ReplyDeleteI've had iPhone for some time now, and I loved it (especially during the long commute to and from work!). Recently we got an iPad, and I have to say that I use it more than my iPhone since I am still at home. I have most of the same apps on my iPad as on my phone and since the screen is bigger it is so so much easier on the eyes :). I am so addicted. I don't know what I am going to do when I return to work...
ReplyDeleteI vote iPad too. I have an iPhone and LOVE it, but if your phone is good (+ cheap) then I'd stick with it. iPad travels just as well and can do all the same fun stuff... plus more :)
ReplyDeleteI have to be honest, I LOVE my iPhone, but my monthly bills make me want to puke. My contract is up in a year and I think I will just get an iPod for instagram (b/c I am hooked) but it just is insane spending so much a month. (and even though they try to sweet talk you with a contract that doesnt seem that much, I somehow spend over $100 each month. barf)
ReplyDeleteI would say iPad since you aren't out and about all that much. I have both, love both, but when I'm at home I use the iPad almost exclusively.
